I don't know how bad it is in other branches, but in civil engineering it is very frustrating and usually expensive to acquire the software modeling tools needed to do a job.   For any specific modeling task, there are usually three alternatives.</description>

The VRR vector drawing package may be a good place to start the user-interface modules.

	*  VRR Installation from the user's manual.

	*  libwxgtk2.6-dev was probably the wrong package to install; libgtk2.0-dev may be sufficient.
	*  Guile 1.6 was already installed on my system, so I installed the dev pack for it.
	*  libfontconfig1-dev, zlib1g-dev, libxml2-dev, make, gcc-3.3, perl already installed
